A (slightly late) review of 2024

This was meant to be a January recap, but life had other plans. Still, the start of the year feels like the right time to look back. Usually, I write this just for myself. Sometimes I share it (like my 2019 review). Here’s a glimpse into my 2024 journey as an entrepreneur.

The year two thousand and twenty four

2024 felt like a transition year. The start was slow, but things ramped up significantly in the second half.

In 2023, I had doubts about my professional life’s design and its impact on my personal one. By 2024, I realized I value the freedom and independence of freelancing.

Professional highlights

Kambium Kyburz (Furniture)
I led a complete rebranding and website relaunch for this high-end furniture brand. Read the full case study here.

Rei Solar (Solar energy)
They approached me last year in order to boost their online presence. The company is a newcomer in the solar industry in the region of Basel. We redesigned their website and extended the content to match their full range of services. A short case study on Linkedin

Reactis (Recycling)
What started as a Google Ads consultation project turned into a broader Digital Strategy one. We helped them bring down the cost per conversion by almost 40%.

Kookut (Pet Food)
I helped the brand grow its online footprint with Meta and Google ads. In 2024 their sales had a very good growth trajectory. I learnt a lot about conversion attribution and the power of Shopify.

Initium (Watches)
With the opening of its Parisian workshop, Initium turned into a real international brand. As the CTO, I led the digital transition to a multi-market presence, addressing multi-currency support, logistics optimization, and global content integration to ensure a seamless online presence.

The other big project for me was to prepare for the launch of their first ever watch collection to be sold online. From organising photos and videos, coordinating with the designer and developer.

Growth mindset
In 2023 I started to work with a coach. I needed an external point of view on recurring questions I had with myself. One aspect that crystallized for me during our discussion, is that I often was thinking too small. But I wanted this to change. This realization came hand in hand with the next point.

Delegating & people management
My natural tendency is to do the work myself, it feels quicker and easier. But in 2024, I made it a priority to delegate and outsource more. Learning to trust others and give up control is tough, but it’s necessary for growth.

Shoutout to Vivienne for her guidance and patience.

Personal highlights

Running 400km
I reached my all-time high of a total of 400km last year, sticking to my goal of running at least 7km per week. It felt great. It really teaches grit and perseverance. Bigger goals can only be reached with smaller steps. Setting up routines and habits helped a lot.

Kids are growing
The routine above is also much easier as the kids become more autonomous. That frees up time and mental space. Their small steps towards their own independence (putting one their own shoes!) allows me to regain some.

House buying process
This was my biggest frustration of 2024. We want to buy a house, but most available on the market didn’t fit our needs, and competition is fierce. It feels like a lottery. A rigged one.

Creativity
My creativity “urge” felt lower than usual. Often I will crave to create images or go down some wicked creative routes. But not so much last year. It had to do with the fact that I was able to use this muscle in my day job. I did work on 3 webdesign projects. Which allowed me to channel a bit this « creativity craving »

Thanks for reading the recap of my journey through 2024.
