Since everyone will be tweeting like crazy during Lift Conference, I thought: How could we bring some fun & creativity into all this?

This is a little experiment (we will see if it really works…)

Since everyone will be tweeting like crazy during Lift Conference, I thought: How could we bring some fun & creativity into all this?

So, this is the idea: Let’s build a multi-layered / multi-author story during those three days. A story based only on tweets, a story where everyone could bring his personal touch. A non-linear story in constant mouvement. A story without any ending nor start.

How does it work?

Someone tweets « Once upon a time in Geneva #LIFTstory1 »

You continue the story by tweeting « a barber was having fun in his backyard #LIFTstory2 »

Your neighbor tweets « with his dog and and a haki-bag received for his birthday #LIFTstory3 »

And so on..

But at any moment your can restart a branch and start over from Part #1. Also several people could write a Part #2 at the same time. The story starts to split and unfold. And it starts to become interesting (and totally chaotic ).

Feel free to tweet videos, pictures or whatever you want/can to share.

Structure of the story

Not sure if my explanation is very clear. Let me know if not. Thanks.

Just unleash your creativity
…and have fun!

PS: If anyone has a good idea how to show/aggregate the whole story afterwards. He’s welcome.

[en] Creah is an application for mobile phones which would allow the user to take a picture of a product and receive it’s detailled composition. The idea is to make it easl to identify the toxicity of a cosmetic product.

Creach = Cosmetics + REACH
Reach = Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals

[ENG] The concept: You register on the website, and then you receive anonymous postacards from the community. It’s totally free, fun and… useless. Once registered you receive your first user address whom you’ll have to send a postcard to. Whenever you sent it, whatever you write on it. It’s up to you. Just make it fun. It’s the anonymous postcard community!

This is a « free idea ». What’s this? Read the related blog post about this concept.

What’s the point? This is totally useless!

Someone created the Tamagotchis, people bought them because they were having fun with them! Same thing here, this is just for the fun of doing it! Sharing postcards all over the world. Would it be really cool to receive a card form a bouthanese monk or from a hockey-mom from Alaska!

How does this whole stuff work?

You get an account on the website (you fill up your name, email, address, little personnal description, etc)

You receive your first « contact » address and ID number

You send a postcard to this guy/girl. Make sure to write the ID number on it.

The receiver gets the card and confirms the transaction by entering the ID number on the website

Your address will now be sent to some anonymous guy from the community.

Lay back, and wait for your first postcard.

Ain’t that easy dude?

Remarks

Whenever you want, you can decide to send an other postcard. For each postcard sent you should receive one. We are working here with real life, real postmen, real airplane, so it might happen that the some card disappear. But who cares?
A report abuse button has to be placed somewhere on the website, I order to block spammers, freaks and weirdos. But I don’t think someone is gonna spend hundreds of bucks (yes postcards do cost money) to send junk mail. But nowadays you never know!

Hall of Fame

If a card is worth its 15 minutes of glory, the receiver can scan it and summit it to the « Hall of Fame of the Anonymous Postcard Community ». A blog-like page where the community could comment and rank it. The goal is to stimulate the imagination of the « senders » in order to stimulate them to be as creative as possible (Scarp-postcarding, drawing, sculpting)

And how does this project make money? We need a business plan!

Hum, well, there’s none! Actually a small shop with merchandising (paper, cards, pencils) could be setup. Maybe a verified member feature? Advertising? ‘Cmon, that’s up to you Be creative!

What do you think? Is this feasible? Is someone interested in doing it? Have you seen something similar somewhere? Your comments are welcome.

[eng]

Did you never have a revolutionary/lame idea? Having this sensation of owning a mind-blowing/pointless concept? Something that maybe would not change the world, but which could at least make it move a little bit? An organic bamboo laptop cover which would generate energy by photosynthesis for instance? A website where you could exchange your ipod and it’s playlist with some random stranger? A T-shirt switching party from which you couldn’t get back home with the same clothes?

I do sometimes get that kind of ideas (Not the revolutionary one, more the stupid ones…). But each time, I keep them for myself, thinking I would use them in a near future. The days are passing, the idea becomes more and more complicate and ends up in a cupboard somewhere in my head.

Of course, some of those ideas are totally undoable or completely stupid. Some others, on the other hand, could be used for a community project, or even for a business plan to launch a startup. At least, I’m sure they are worth to be shared.

I think there a lot of people out there who would like to express their ideas, share them with the community. Maybe those guys will never realize those ideas because of lack of time, technical skills or funds. That’s why I propose to expose those ideas on this blog, to share them, and why not allow someone to realize them.

Those ideas are free, the only constraint is to indicate its origin plus the name of the author. So, do you have some of those extraordinary ideas? Send them in the comments, or by mail. I’ll develop (and translate) them if necessary before to publish them. Thanks for your suggestions. See you next week for the first example.

[fr]
